Grace and Glory Christian Growth Study Resources

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105

Martin Luther once asked, "What do we older folks live for if not for the care of the young, to teach and train them?" The importance he placed on education has remained a hallmark of the Lutheran church for centuries, and is truly part of our calling. The Adult Education Planning Committee seeks sources which may help as we seek to increase our understanding of God's speaking to us through the bible and other Christian resources. These resources can put us in touch with noted writers of the day as well as the past. Nurture key faith practices as people of all ages grow in their desire and commitment to follow Jesus.

This page is the Contents Directory of Adult Education Classes and study resources we have assembled for your use as we go forward in opening the Book Of Faith and join the conversation.

Christian Education Summer Series

Grace and Glory Lutheran Church is sponsoring a 7 week Sunday morning Adult Christian Education series with the theme "What Does God Expect of Us?"

Scripture reference for this series is Matthew 25:31-46, "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.".

Each week there will be a guest speaker from the community, such as Sheriff Washington, the warden from one of Virginia's Prisons, the director of a local Food Bank, and others.

Kick-off Sunday is June 12; the guest speaker is The Rev. Doug Smith, Executive Director of the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy. Doug is an engaging speaker, who will bring alive the work of the Virginia Interfaith Center. The Center is an arm of area houses of worship who gather to petition our state legislators on important legislation that affects those most vulnerable among us. "As you did it to one of the least of these....""

The community is invited to attend this important session. Christian Education classes are held at 9:15 to 10:00 a.m., followed by the worship service which begins at 10:15 a.m. Doug will present the message at worship as well on that day.
