The story in Mark 1: 40-45, where Jesus has pity and heals a man with leprosy, poses an interesting question in the Gospel reading appointed for Feb. 12: Does Jesus desire to heal us? And if he does, why doesn't it always happen, or happen instantly? We'll wrestle with these questions in worship, and we'll offer opportunity for any who desire to present themselves for healing prayer, laying on of hands, and anointing with oil, for their own health or spiritual needs, or on behalf of another. The Bell Choir will also be playing for this special service.
As we gather for worship on February 19, you won't hear hammers pounding or see paint dripping from brushes, but you will be inspired by what Grace and Glory is doing to respond to God's call to build affordable housing for low income families in Fluvanna.
The 19th is Transfiguration Sunday, when Jesus' face shines and he is recognized as God's beloved. Perhaps we too will be transfigured as we recognize those who have volunteered from Grace and Glory and hear the incredible progress of Habitat from its president, Mike Himes, and vice-president, our very own Ray Weimer.
Visit the table after the service to see how you can support Habitat, including providing some basic tools to fill the new tool trailer that Fluvanna Habitat now owns. All cash offerings that day and special designated offerings will help support the work of Habitat. See you there!
We'll gather with our United Methodist brothers and sisters for a joint Ash Wednesday worship service on Feb. 22 at 7pm at Palmyra United Methodist Church in downtown Palmyra. Come and receive the imposition of ashes as we begin our Lenten discipline. We'll continue our Wednesday Soup 'N' Studies beginning the following Wednesday, February 29. Keep an eye out for more details soon.
